What can I learn from the loss of my mother?

This picture was before her surgery.
by Somaly
Namaste wonderful souls and dear readers,
After I graduated from my study, we brought flight on August 2024. We visited them on 17 October 2024. I had two major health appointments between August to October 2024. I only asked my work leaved as my planned.

My mother had type 2 diabetes. she was careful on her diets and took her medication regularly. unfortunately, she got sick on early September 2024.  She got a bumps on the heel of her foot. she visited doctors, took blood test, and ultrasound on our local clinics. They said " Everything is okay".  She got some lumps in her head, one side her leg and hip. It was emergency. My father and siblings send her to some big public hospitals and private clinic. The doctors took blood tests and ultrasound. the private clinic send my mother to one of big Cambodia public hospitals. then She got head surgery " remove lump on her head without doing biopsy". The doctor send my mother home, so she had to waiting results. The doctor prescribed her some medication. It took three weeks to get results.

I did not realised " my mother illness was serious and critical situation" as I live oversea. I only see her through video callings. I only hope that I could brought her to other hospital. she will be okay.

When I arrived to my hometown, she was in critical condition. I brought her to the same hospital as they already had her file. She spend one day in emergency unite and three day in ICU emergency. Doctors could not help her. She passed on 22/10/24. It was the most difficult moment. I had spent the last few days with my beloved mother. She was my everything and most care person in my life. She loved me unconditionally. I always remember her in my heart. I could not change the outcomes. I learned to accepted the facts and have been dealing with grief, anger, and guilty.

When I arrived in Australia, and I could not feel the same.  I managed to go work, but I only told some co-workers about my mother's death because I did not want cried at my workplace. I lost my trust with some Cambodia health hospitals and doctors since my mother's death. I thought that if I brought my mother to Thailand or Vietnam hospital sooner, my mother might be stay with us little longer.I felt very lost and blame myself.

I felt safe to cried at home. I cried every-time that I am thinking about my mother.  I could not find the word to describing the grief process from one person to others. My husband sister passed away on 14 November 2024.  I never meet her, but I felt sad and worried about my husband who could not meet and joined his sister funeral. for my experiences, I feel empty and confused with suddenly death events. I felt very tired, intense, sore some part of my body, and lost motivation from October until Early December. I avoided to join party and any happy events. I did isolated myself from my daily round and creative activities. I took time to relaxing, allowed myself to do nothing, and recognised the feelings.

I felt little better since 15/12/24. I started accepting the facts and forgive myself. I talked with my father, siblings, and friends. I returned to doing my garden. I felt release and relaxing after my yoga and acupuncture sessions. I sometimes cried because I miss my mother and worried about my father's health as well. I remember about her beautiful smile, beautiful heart, kind, hard working, strong wills, responsible, and selfless person. I felt blessed to be her daughter. " thank you for being my mother." It was hard without you, but I know you always in my heart and memories. May her rest in peace! I love you.

What can I learn from the loss of my mother?

First,  I learn that healing is from within. I believed that I could deal with my emotions. Until I willing to tried the body psychotherapy for the first time. I learned and understand " how to healing my body, mind, and spirit? and how to released the energy blocked and break the old pattern in my life?". I believe that healing was within my body, mind, and spirit. I need to understand the root cause and be honest with my feelings and body needs.

Second, I learn that my emotions and mind could created illness without me realise it. I used to compress my feelings, put others' needs above my own needs, and avoid the complex with others. Now I embrace my own powers, needs, and learn to express my voices.

Finally, I learned to enjoyed my time, listening to my body and feelings, forgive myself for making the wrong choices and bad decisions, let's my flow with universe, and let others to be free for who they are.

The first acupuncture treatments in my life!

 by: Somaly

Namaste wonderful souls and dear readers,

In the past, I don't know why I am so afraid of needle? I was born in Cambodia. I just remember when some doctors inject needles in my body. It was painful and hurt. as result,  I am very scared of needle. I did not visit doctor if I was not sick. I rarely sick when I was in Cambodia. I just remembered when I was sick. I was dizzy, fatigue, and headache.

Nowadays, when my general doctor asked for blood tests, I always feel nervous and anxious. I through in my mind " why do Australia doctors need my blood test most of the time?". well, I have more than one hundred blood test in the last five years. I just follow the health professionals instructions. I just don't look and take deep breath every-time that a phlebotomist perform their procedure.

After I did ultrasound test and got results. I found out that my health and body is not fully healing. I still have some new lumps grow near my previous surgery. then I decided to receive acupuncture treatments. acupuncture treatment is expensive, new concept, and can be pretty scary things for a person who already afraid of needle like me. I would like to trying this new method which I believed that it might help my healing process. I am willing to do it and I hope for a better health and completely heal my body in future. I learn and understand about health and body needs. I did not aware and recognised that I have these hidden illness. now I have an opportunity to be heal and be health again.

In my currently situations,  I face the most scary and uncomfortable things by doing acupuncture. I really honest and openly with acupuncture doctor about my health and needles' anxiety. the doctor said that I have dampness health condition. I did some research some understand the root cause and diet suggestion. I had two acupuncture treatments. I feel some improvement and manage my needle anxiety. I thought" I am will be okay. and I will be healing" and take deep breath every-time doctor inject acupuncture needles and cupping therapy on my body points. the doctor avoid to inject many needles in my first treatment because I could build up my confidence, and manage my needle anxiety better in upcoming treatments.  this was my first treatment picture look likes:

I feel that I might be emotion and  have an intense feeling in my heart at moments. I might not only person who face health issues. How can I handle when my life is unbalanced?

by: Somaly

Namaste wonderful souls and dear readers,

From August and September 2024, I had handle with my own health issues and parents health issues as well. I called as a big test and unbalance moments in my life that I never imaging and think of it. Now I asked what should I do next?,  Can I handle these at the same time? and how can I manage my health priority vs parents health?.

My parents live in countryside in Cambodia.  They turn to their 70. Cambodia health system still improving and limited with people who have low income. They did not have general health check up. my father has heart issues, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure. three year ago, he went to hospital and critical illness. we almost lost him. fortunately, he became better and recovered from his illness. my mother also has high blood sugar (diabetes type 2), and high blood pressure. she was in hospital and she had critical condition. her health became stable and good progress. she might have further surgeries.

I had two surgeries for breast lump last year, and I currently found out that I have some new grow lumps. I also deal with endometriosis and adenomyosis. it could be sad and disappointed for some people however I believe in positive mindset and attitude. fortunately, I found them early stages. my health and body are going to healing and getting better in future. I believe in traditional and modern health beliefs health system.  I have been tries different methods such as follow the surgeon's instruction, have acupuncture treatments, and I also would like to have herbalist appointment in November 2024.

During these difficult, challenges, and chaotic moments, I prayed and send positive intentions that my parents are going be health again. I also calm my emotions and mind by video calling with my parents, spending time in garden, listening some mantra, creating video contents, writing my stories, sharing my experiences, and reading some psychology books ( self-actualisation, self-help techniques, attitude change, happiness, and mental health).

I have received love and support from my families, friends, and communities. I felt safe, belong, and secure in this country. my heart is fully grateful and blessed. I learn to accepting and let's go on my expectations. there are many people who might have similar experiences and some people might face more difficult situations than my own experiences. I don't complaint or ask why I have to face these challenges in my life? these challenges and difficulties help me become stronger and be aware of my body needs.

Here are my recommend books that the books have positive messages and great stories.

I feel release and expend my viewpoints in my life. my life can be little hard at moments, but I never lost my hope and strength. These experiences could prepare me for the better future and blessings. When I was in my 20s, I was scare and avoid these difficulties, challenges, and unbalance moments. Now I am ready to overcome these experiences. I am not alone any more. I have my families, husband, friends,  and communities who willing to listen to my stories, say positive, encouragement, and uplifting words. I feel safe, secure, belong, guided, and protected in the world. I pray for peace and comfort to everyone who has the same experiences. you are not alone. there are some people who might have far more difficult circumstances and situation in their life. I hope we can overcome these test together.

I can't wait to visiting with my parents soon. I am going to share some beautiful moments, delicious foods, countryside view, and recommendation restaurants in Cambodia.

I have both adenomyosis and endometriosis!

by: Somaly
Namaste wonderful souls and dear readers,
My husband and I have planed for having our babies over four years. Unfortunately, It did not happen as we planned. We spent two years for checking our general health, we visited general practitioner to specialist doctors. We had countless tests and consulted with our general health doctors.
When I did not conceive first and second year, I decided to relax and focus on my future career in Australia. I enrolled to become an early childhood educator.  I was pretty busy for the whole two years. During my study periods, I still could not conceive. I was thinking maybe because of my stress and study commitments. we were not looking deeply or seriously checking into my health.
After I graduated from study, I felt released and relaxed. I decided to see my general doctor again. She asked to check on my uterus by doing hysteroscopy test. The hysteroscopy showed that I have both endometriosis and adenomyosis in August 2024.
https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/14167-adenomyosis

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/10857-endometriosis

I have researched and read some online article and YouTube "what is adenomyosis and endometriosis?" I could understand the meaning, some treatments, and symptoms. I could not find articles on people who have both adenomyosis and endometriosis. Now I am willing to share my experience and how I overcome my illness? To everyone who might benefit and uplift for people who just found out their hidden illness as well.  For my view points,  reading some online articles could not replace from health professionals and doctors' treatments.

These long-term health conditions hidden many years, and I only experienced having back pain during my period, in between my periods, getting tired easily, fatigue, and have difficulty to conceived babies naturally. Even-through I found out and faced some hidden illness in 2024. I still trust with Australia health system. It might cost some money and time. I am positive with healing process and journey.

September 2024,  I am at the begging of healing journey. I visited fertility specialist and I did the Pelvic MRI Test. I just learn, accept, and be patient with my health conditions. I have personal motivation phrase "if I cannot control or change my situations, I learn to trust and flow with the universe plan." I also just trust with my body that every cells in my body is capable of healing itself.

This write and message help me release all my emotions and any blocks in my life. I am on a journey to become healthy again, be able to conceive our babies, and live in healthy lifestyle. I become resilient because it is a choice that I make everyday. I chose to have positive mindset and ask the right questions.

I know I could feel all kind of emotions such as pain, hurt, sad, disappointment, and regret in my life. I never forget that I have made some good progress. I have families, friends, and support communities who accept me for who I am.  My husband, families, and friends are my real supporters and protectors. I am not hidden, but when I handle many challenges and difficult emotions. I love to quiet any noise and be quiet, so I could calm my mind and relax my body. I could regain my energy and focus for next day.

My first tip for people who just find out that they have long tern illness:

  •  Ask ourselves what should we do better, how can we handle with these challenge, reflect on our experiences, share our experiences, never lose hope, and never forget you are an important person in your life.
I am going to update and share my tips with you all in the future. Now I am have upcoming appointments, consult some health professionals, and I am going to share what I learn from them.

How I can overcome some challenges in life?

by: Somaly

Namaste wonderful souls and dear readers,
I have been living in Australia since 2020. I did not travel to a lot of places in Australia. My husband and I had been working pretty hard, and we usually do our gardening on weekends.

After I took a vocational course since October, 2022 to June, 2024. Our life became busier, and we decided to stop traveling both overseas and domestic. I work three days and studied for two. Every weekend, my friend and I did our assessments together. Being a student in Australia was difficult, challenging, overwhelming, and stressful due to many assessments and placement requirements.

English is my second language. Sometimes, I take a while to understand and know how I answer the questions. Sometimes, I ask my classmates and friends to explain questions in the simple ways or form. Even-though it was difficult and challenging, I never gave up on my study. I learned to be organised, time-management, priority the tasks, and teamwork.

During my studying, I found out that I had Borderline Phylloxera Tumour which I did two major surgeries early 2024. It was hard to accepted and process at beginning because I had to be absent total six weeks from work and school. I asked myself with five questions and It took nine months to process, accepted, be honest to myself, and answers all these questions.

  1. How can I overcome these challenges?
  • I learn to accepted and have positive mindset during these difficult time.
  • I learn to asked for help (Icie help passed information and explained me how to do assessments).
  • I told myself that I am safe and surround with my love ones.
  • I also told myself that my school and workplace understood and supported me with this journey.
  • I also told myself that I was at good hands and care with Australia health system.
  • I am grateful for my husband and friends with their love and positive encouragement. I kept moving forward with these challenges.
  • I am grateful for general doctor, specialist surgeon, assisting doctors, and all hospital staffs.
  • I am grateful for my friend, classmates, teachers, and management team.
  • I also grateful for my colleagues, educational leaders, supervisor, and direct manager.
  1. How can I catch up with my study and assessments?
  • During recovery progress and absences from work and study, I did my assessment one to two questions per-day and take a break if I felt so tired.
  • I understood about my body needs and checked on my mental health.
  • After I got two anaesthetic injections, I could not focus on my study because it was overwhelm with all assessments and placement requirements. I use these positive phrases to motivate myself. “ I am half way to completed my study. Be patient and keep going. I can do it.”.
  • I am be honest with myself that I had two choices “ If I stop now, I have to retake my course again.  Or I just hold on and keep do my best with my own pace.
  • I know I am in healing process. I know my body, spiritual,  and mind will doing their healing, so I did not keep to worrying and thinking about heath issues anymore.
  1. How can I prepare my physical, emotional, and mental stage when I return to my workplace?
  • I was be honest with my colleague that I need work light and slowly pace one more week.
  • Then I would tried my best to fulfil my responsible as team. I don’t like to take any advantage from my colleague because of my health.
  • I respect them and be responsible with my role.
  • Even-though I graduated since June, 2024. I decided to work only three day. I keep my four days for learning new skills, recovery from stress and intensions, return to doing garden, be kind to myself, and doing things that bring joys and happiness.
  1. How can I improve my lifestyle and life?
  • My husband and I have been spending time with our families, friends, and communities.
  • We slowly travelled in Australia since August,  and we also plan to traveling oversea, and our homeland.
  • We have been grown my vegetables, consume healthy foods, and cooking.
  • I have been listening to my physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • I join yoga class, ride bike cycle, and walk to workplace, and neighbourhood area.
  • I have been creating YouTube Channels, Blogs, Facebook Pages, and Tumblr where I could expend creativities, learn new skills, and have flexible schedules.
  • I love to read inspiration and non-fiction books. These books help me learning others’ stories and experiences.
  • I listen to mantra, read oracle desks, have crystals, cuddle my favorited squish mallows toys, nature walk, and picture board ( where I stick my families’ pictures, good friends, some co-workers, and my students).

Theses questions remind some aspects in our life. My husband and I have supported and loved each others ever-since. We never complaints about our challenges, health issues, difficulties in our career, and little money that we earn.

Everyday, we have been trying our best to fulfil jobs, learn new skills, have grateful heart, live simple life, enjoy our own hobbies,  spend time with our own friends and families, spend money on things that we needs, and encourage each others when we felt down.

This is my own stories and experiences “ how I can overcome some challenges in life?”. I hope you could overcome your challenges and difficulty in life too. Sometimes, we need to be positive, be open, and go with the flow in life.

If you feel hard to walk alone, surround yourself with love one or ask for help from friends and health professional.
